Shader-based realtime TOF camera simulator – Bachelor thesis

Disclaimer: I wrote my bachelor thesis under a non-disclosure agreement! Therefore, this post won’t contain any details.
But I can tell you it got graded with 1.3 by my professors 🙂

Time of fight (TOF) cameras have the ability to measure the distances to the recorded objects for every pixel in real time.
The TOF cameras produced by PMD technologies manage to achieve this by sending out infrared light and measuring the time the light needs to reflect on a surface and back into the camera. The picture above shows a visualisation of a 3D space constructed out of these information.
My bachelor thesis evolved around the development and evaluation of a virtual TOF camera in 3D scenes.
